Rudy with alpha investments has a YouTube channel talking about magic the gathering primarily, but also occasionally talks about some of the other trading card games, focusing on the investment side of collecting. He is a former Wall Street financial guy. For what it’s worth, I find him to be credible. Lol
In one of his recent videos he stated he purchased the entire backlog of stock for the card game Force of Will in a million dollar deal. Since he was able to buy such a large quantity, he can undercut everyone else on the market. And that is exactly what he’s doing. He is selling at $.10 on the dollar.
He also made statements about magic the gathering, and Pokémon. Hinting that he could try to do the same thing.
Do you think something like this could happen in pokemon??
In his video he said that deal was for all the stock in MJ Holdings warehouse that the chains like Walmart, Target etc won’t take because it doesn’t sell (I believe force of will had an issue with over printing, well above the demand for the product). I could be wrong but I don’t think that’s going to happen with Pokemon because MJ Holdings seems to have success breaking down modern pokemon product for their mystery power boxes, and I belive stores don’t have much issue turning over sealed product. If anything he might pick up excess EX/GX boxes, it will be interesting to see if he does anything with the brand.
He did state in a recent video that he had to spend over what he was comfortable with to get the volume discount that he did, which is why he’s selling at almost cost to his patrons, to recoup some of his capital and then sell at a profit when he’s got less volume of product. It will be interesting to see how that works out after he’s supplied a bunch of eBay sellers and stores with the same heavily discounted product and how the market handles that influx.
