Adhi's Mudkip Collection

Update for my “exclusive holo” and Jumbo Mudkip!

(I received the package almost a month ago, but better late than never.)

After 11 months of collecting Mudkip, I finally received what I consider my last package (for now).

Here are the holo variants that I personally consider “exclusive holo” that aren’t represented in my main Mudkip collection (English, German, and Indonesian):

  1. Mirror holo without a pattern
  2. Cracked Ice holo
  3. Mirror holo with an exclusive pattern

As far as I’m aware, Mudkip only received a mirror holo with a pattern in Fusion Strike. Because of that, I consider the Japanese CP4 Mudkip to have an exclusive holo pattern, since Mudkip has never received a mirror holo without a pattern. My main collection also doesn’t include a Cracked Ice holo like the Korean CP4 version, which is a holo pattern I personally really like.

The last two are, of course, the Simplified Chinese exclusive holos. I especially like the mirror holo with the water energy pattern. I also think my favorite Mudkip artwork, Celestial Storm 32, looks even better with the Simplified Chinese holo because the pattern feels more balanced.

Mudkip only has one Jumbo card artwork from the (Hoenn) First Partner Pack for the Pokémon 25th Anniversary, which is a reprint of the original EX Ruby & Sapphire card. I picked up the English and German versions because, as far as I know, there isn’t an Indonesian version.

Aside from the upcoming First Partner Illustration Collection Series 3 update, there probably won’t be any new additions for quite a while. The remaining cards I’m missing (the Japanese exclusives and Tropical Wind NP26 cameo) have gone beyond the price range I’m comfortable paying after I put off buying them for about a year. After thinking it over for a month, I’ve decided not to exceed the budget I set for myself, so that’s it for now.

Even though I’m still very tempted, an old health issue (which isn’t fully covered by my insurance) returned a few weeks ago, so I’ll be taking a break from collecting for a while and focusing on getting better. In the meantime, I’m planning to clean up this thread and move all of the update photos into the main post whenever I have the time.

It’s been a really fun journey collecting Mudkip and seeing everyone else’s collections.

Until next time!

Cheers,
Adhi
