In 2020 about 5,000 total with a 90/10 PSA/CGC split.
So far in 2021 it has been a relatively even split but if I had to forecast the entire year I will likely send another 5,000 total with ~2,000 to CGC and 3,000 to PSA.

You send out quite a bit. What are your impressions of CGC in relations to selling? Do they sell just as easy as PSA, albeit maybe for less? It seems your 2021 projections for sending off cards have you sending quite a few more to CGC.

But that’s no small feat, just the capital alone once that gets returned is no small fry. Imagine some of these totals with 4K cards!

He personally sent out 30,000? Or Ludkins sent out 30,000?
all of mine were through Ludkins fwiw so don’t double count ;p
@crypto I am happy at the sale rate and the prices CGC slabs have been getting me so far. Even where the prices achieved are less there is a ton of value in the added certainty of market stability in a 3 month turnaround compared to what I’m assuming will be an 18-24 month turnaround at PSA.
I’m not too thrilled about CGC’s new pricing and it isn’t just that prices went higher, it isn’t that at all honestly. I hate so much that they are going to be charging $7 to add 4 subgrades to a card that theoretically are being determined regardless. CGC should not have a no subgrade option, but if they had to the difference in price should be something like $1-2 at most IMO. In either case I will not grade any cards without subgrades at CGC after doing my first submission that way. I think many cards it makes more financial sense to skip over them especially at the new rates but I just don’t believe in a card not having subgrades personally. The only reason I send any cards to PSA at all anymore is because a large part of the market buys PSA labels and that probably isn’t changing over the next 2-5 years in any large way.
Ludkins probably sent out 30,000 since this thread was open lol. Charlie personally sent out 30,000. He mentioned it publicly in an interview or two.

That’s good to hear on the sales part! I am doing a significantly smaller scale operation than you, and wondered how it was going with CGC in terms of sales.
And yeah, that is a bummer. I agree it’s dumb that they are determining the subgrades anyways to determine the grade. $7 to have it printed on the label is a bit much. So what does that end up making it per card when getting subgrades?

Thank you PFM (great interview with Radar btw)

Vintage to me at least needs to be graded to better protect the card and your investment.
A 4 today could be a 1 tomorrow, especially when it comes to vintage Baseball cards.
I don’t remember because it has been such a long time… probably 50-80 though? It’s funny though because cards that are at psa that I sent at $10 value are now $300 value thanks to stonks lol
