If you check the card codes closely, numbers 4, 5, and 6 might be the Johto starters, and 7, 8, and 9 could be the Hoenn ones. It’s a pattern that’d make a lot of sense for this set!
Dont collect modern at all and dont like really much the artwork on the pokemons, but they got me with the gen 1 hints, will definetly be picking them up!
If JP is without the stamp again lol.
Wish they had it as a small icon next to the numbering.
Haha that’s pretty great. Love the World’s feel to the artwork. There seems to be cut-off elements of the artwork especially in the Gen 1 line. Could these perhaps be 9-card art-spreads the like we’ve seen from Crown Zenith? Their reveal order makes sense too if that were the case, revealing generations 1, 4, and 7 first of the 9.
People who’ve played the games can help point out all the references.
Bulbasaur
Viridian Forest, Pallet Town, Mt. Moon & Clefairy & unsure where the yellow house is
Pokedex, Choice of 3 starters, 1st 3 badges
Charmander
Lavender Tower, Blocked Path (Snorlax)
Next 2 badges, iconic “Rhydon” gym statue but unsure if the red one is a reference to a particular gym
Squirtle
SS Anne, Celadon? Saffron? City, Cycling Path, Seafoam Islands
Last 3 badges
It would be more balanced that way. I imagine the EN First Partner pack will have 1 starter from each gen (3 of 9) so people are collecting all of them
1, 4, 7
2, 5, 8?
3, 6, 9?
Doesn’t really matter which are in what packs. The product will be near impossible to buy in the stores. Get ready for €60 boxes and €100-200 trios.
I don’t see those prices happening at all. This will be mass produced and overprintrd
My city has two big chain toy stores. Product is never on the shelves because friends/family/staff “pre orders” everything. Staff member will let their friends know when the store is resupplied and by time the restock happens the friends are in the shop, cleaning it out.
This happened with Celebrations, happened with 151, happened with every release with big cards in it. It might be mass produced and over printed, but when distribution is in small waves and stores don’t have a 1 item per costumer rule normal people that walk into the store on Saturday afternoon will see empty shelves.
Webshops are the same. I receive e-mail newsletters of many of them on a restock, I check the website within 20 minutes and everything gone already.
Rather than a big reply, I’m just going to say these look fantastic and make me hopeful for more promos.
I believe this could either be the Poke Mart in Viridian City where you need to retrieve Oak’s Parcel. Also want to point out that Route 1 is above the mart as well as a Pikachu in Viridian Forest.
I’m leaning towards Saffron. The big building is more than likely Silph Co with the Fighting Dojo and Saffron Gym directly behind it. The big building could be the Celadon Dept Store but there aren’t any buildings behind it in the games.
I think this has to be right since none of the gyms have the statues outside of their doors
I love them all! I love the colours, I love the art style, I love that they connect, I love the gym badges and landmarks!
There’s even a pikachu on Bulbasaur in the Viridian forest
I cannot wait to see the johto cards!!
I’ve always wanted a card that integrated the pixelated artwork,
Other than pokedude
I think those 9 promos are awesome, cant wait to buy them!
I like them, overall. A little too saturated color-wise, but the backgrounds are creative. I wish they had gone with a retro aesthetic or in the style of the Meowth from Phantasmal. Rainbow borders could’ve helped as well.
These are absolutely gorgeous- I love the saturated colors and modern feel to the style, and obviously all of the references to different in-game locations and mechanics are top notch. As someone whose favorite gen is Sinnoh by far, seeing the connected arts all together telling the story of the region makes me so, so happy.
Valley Windworks (and a Drifloon cameo!), Snowpoint Temple, Fossil museum, Galactic HQ, the poffin maker, Pokétch, badges, and more bring you right back into the Sinnoh region. I can’t wait to have a page of these Piplups, and I’m likely going to pick up an additional trio set for my other binder outside of my Piplup collection to see the three together.
The other Kanto and Alola arts are also gorgeous as well! This makes me so excited for what else the anniversary has in store if the art here is already this top-notch.
These… might be…. Perfect!?
Oh these look great! I can’t wait!
