25th Anniversary Set - Celebrations

I completely forgot, in case someone finds it interesting:

Last week I inspected and quality controlled a private stash of S8a-p Charizards bought from various japanese dealers on eBay. 15% of the cards were off-centered to the point where PSA 10 and BGS 10 of course are (supposed) to be out of the question, but the remaining 85% were in magnificent condition. So not only did the Japanese standard hold true, but I doubt these were pre-sorted.

One of the reasons I only collect japanese.

Just discovered as of today that the Japanese s8a 25th Anniversary set has Reverse cards !
I’ve seen some pack openings on Youtube and the Reverse card is not guaranteed per pack. Does someone know the pull rate ?

If I remember correctly it’s around 4 per box

Has America had 2 waves while EU and England have only had one ? If so I am expecting another wave for Europe and England sooner or later

I have bombarded Asmodee with mails and they finally came back to me, being a total POS compnay. An one line reply that they do not supply information about Pokemon product to non-business contacts. While my e-mails clearly state and included replies from every store I contacted that they are absolutely left in the dark by Asmodee.

So I can conclude, that indeed the UK and Europe have had only one wave of Celebrations that was totally absorbed by pre-orders and individuals with distribution accounts.

Sorry I’m a bit out of the loop, but do we know how and when we get Greninja Gold Star in Japanese?

Feels weird and backwards saying this, but it is English exclusive and might remain that way. It seems like English got a better deal with our celebrations releases including the UPC and promos. Japanese store websites are actually selling English sealed celebration product which is a little unusual. This is probably because the promos like greninja, dragapult didn’t get released in Japanese yet (although some promos were released in other languages like Lance’s Charizard in Chinese). Who knows if they will be released in Japanese, but it is 2022 already and no longer the 25th anniversary

Some of the promos also have a disclaimer on the bottom that they’re not tournament legal, so I don’t know if Pokemon feels obligated to print them.

I liked the Taiwan/HK release system the best with the guaranteed classic collection cards. The metal cards in the UPC are awesome, but I prefer all the goodies in the golden box after seeing it up close in person.
I got a booster box of the Korean celebrations and unfortunately they do not have reverse holos. I would had not bought the box if I researched it. I assumed it was the same as the Japanese. I did pull the korean shiny mew so I’m glad I bought it but I never count on actually pulling the chase. The Korean CC cards have the same 25th logo as Japanese but the border is a standard yellow border like English.

My ideal release would had been the Taiwan/HK release but with the golden box/UPC combined.
On another note the Portuguese (Brazil release I believe) has a really cool holo pattern. Haven’t seen the cards at a price I’d be willing to pay though.

I have yet to find any Portuguese items (Gardevoir ex in particular) for purchase. But to be honest this is the first set I started looking for Portuguese variants, so not very sure where to look etc.

I had read 3-5 per booster box as initial estimates back in October so this fits.

Also worth noting that the reverse holofoil is only applied to the first 17 cards of the set (001/028-017/028) and not the other cards of the set (including the secret rare 029/028, ultra rare 030/028 and the 8 energies).

I still haven’t gotten my pikachu v-union box even though apparently a lot of them have arrived in my country which is annoying, the game store i bought it from (which one of the big ones in my country) only got few boxes at the end of last year and i didn’t get mine and meanwhile some random book stores had loads of the same boxes with over 2x over the retail price. Sometimes it really sucks being a collector in europe

I’m sure everyone waited eagerly for the good news but the fingernail biting can finally be over since my pikachu v-union box arrived!

I been at the toy store last Friday and asked for the new product.

She proudly showed me a sealed brick of Shining Fates. I asked about Celebrations… she didnt knew the product.

Our is the same as Brazilian Portuguese. That’s why a majority of people here don’t like cards in Portuguese. And I don’t have any in Portuguese, but from what I’ve seen, they are the same as US ones.

I don’t usually collect english. It’s my only english set and it’s bugging me

Anyone else vaguely remember an interview or something official online saying that Greninja Gold Star, Light Toxtricity etc were never intended to be printed in Japanese? Swear I saw this!
