Hard choice every collector has to make at the beginning of their journey, gotta say I’ve been much more satisfied spending my money on multiple low/mid tier products rather than one super expensive.

A few years ago when Base 1st was 50k, and Base unlimited was $2500, you could snag 20 unlimited boxes for the price of 1 first edition box.

In today’s dollars that would cash out to around $80k if you sold your 20 boxes at 4k a pop.

The first edition box would unload quickly at 80k probably. No telling how much it’s actually worth right now though without some sales figures.

!st edition is looking like the better choice based off that math.

(However, if my price timeline is off, base could have been $1300 at the time the 1st was 50k. That would be $153k total sales)

Normally I don’t share this kind of info if I haven’t reached a personal goal first, which, in this case, I haven’t but…for perspective, I’ve rec’d two 100k offers for a box. Both reliable with one being a prominent member here.
Now does that satisfy the requirement to count towards current value? Well, to determine that is way above my pay grade. But since there’s been so few recent sales, it’s hopefully better than nothing.

Were those offers for boxes from your sealed case? I imagine people would offer a premium for them as the biggest fear with 1st ed base bxoes is authenticity. I know a few people that want one that refuse to buy one even from somewhere like heritage/dacardworld due to the fear of a fake seal esp after Rusty’s recent experience. They have all said their exception would be a box from your case.

Tough question, i would probably go with the quantity because I love having boxes. And with that many I would definitely open one or two

I have 3 boxes not in a case and those would be the first to go but just saying that hurts my stomach lol. To your question, no it never got far enough for them to request that. If I became desperate for some reason to sell, I’d do what I had to do but god willing it’ll never come to that.
